What is safeguarding consultancy?

Safeguarding consultancy is independent, expert support that helps your organisation keep children and adults at risk of harm safe and meet its safeguarding responsibilities. A consultant looks closely at how you work, points out where things could go wrong, and advises on stronger policies, systems and everyday practice.

Most organisations get in touch at a particular moment: before or after an inspection, after a difficult incident, when policies have fallen behind the latest guidance, or when trustees and governors want reassurance. You don’t need a crisis to contact us.

  • Comprehensive audits: a full, independent check of your safeguarding arrangements.
  • On-site reviews: an experienced consultant looks at how safeguarding works in practice.
  • Policy health checks: clear, written reports on your policies.
  • Strategy and action plans: clear priorities and a practical plan to put them in place.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your Title Goes Here
Your content goes here.
What does a safeguarding consultant do?
An experienced, independent professional who advises organisations on their safeguarding arrangements. They look at how you currently work, identify risks and gaps, and recommend the policies, procedures and practice you need to keep children and adults at risk of harm safe.
What does a safeguarding audit involve?
We review your policies, procedures, records and day-to-day practice against current guidance and good practice. You then get a written report setting out your strengths, areas to improve and a clear order of priority.
What is the difference between an audit and a review?
An audit is a detailed check against set standards that ends in a formal report. A review is broader and more collaborative, looking at how effective your safeguarding is overall. Some organisations have both.
Do you work with organisations that support adults?
Yes. We support organisations working with children, adults at risk of harm, or both. Our advice reflects the relevant legislation and guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education, Working Together to Safeguard Children and the Care Act 2014.
What are Section 175 and Section 157?
Sections 175 and 157 of the Education Act 2002 place a legal duty on schools and colleges to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. Our audits help schools understand and evidence these duties.
How much does safeguarding consultancy cost?
As a guide, from £125 per hour for ad hoc advice, £525 for a half day and £945 for a full day, with two-day (£1,800) and three-day (£2,550) options for larger pieces of work. We tailor every quote to what your organisation needs. Prices exclude VAT, and we confirm a fixed price in writing before any work begins.
