This module provides a brief summary of legislation and guidance surrounding the protection of children and the definitions of safeguarding across the regions of the UK. It also highlights the roles and responsibilities of various agencies in safeguarding.

3. What is Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation?

This module will improve your ability to identify children at risk by recognising the four main types of abuse: physical, sexual, emotional and neglect.

4. Indicators of Abuse and Neglect and Specific Safeguarding Issues

This module provides an overview of the signs of physical, emotional and sexual abuse, as well as neglect. You’ll also gain insights into current safeguarding challenges, including child-on-child abuse, harmful sexual behavior and fabricated illness as well as many others.

5. Early Help and Thresholds of Needs

In this module, you’ll explore the concept of Early Help and gain an understanding the thresholds of intervention.

6. Online Safety

In this module, you will learn about the 4Cs of online safety and guidance for school policies for online safety.

7. Radicalisation and Extremism

This module provides a brief overview of the definitions of extremism and radicalisation, along with the Prevent Duty strategy and the new National Referral Form.

8. Responding to Disclosures of Abuse

In this module, you’ll get advice on how to handle potential abuse concerns, properly document the information and access support if you need it.
